I am a post-doc researcher at the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology (FIT). My research interest focuses on how ICT can support coordination and knowledge exchange in complex contexts such as global software development or emergency response. I am also interested in the digitization of work processes in the context of the so called Industry 4.0. My main research communities are CSCW, HCI and Software Engineering/Information Systems.
If you are interested in my recent work, check my papers on Articulation Spaces: bridging the gap between formal and informal coordination (CSCW 2014) and Designing for ethical innovation: A case study on ELSI co-design in emergency (IJHCS 2016).
I sometimes post news about my work at Twitter.
Currently, I am working on the following topics and projects:
Over the last years, I have mainly worked in two European research projects in the area of security research:
I have also worked on some smaller research projects:
"Articulation Spaces" was a development project which aimed at supporting articulation work in flexible and knowledge-intesive domains. It was a follow-up of the DFG funded ARTOS project I have been working on at the University of Siegen.
"Supporting Appropriation of 3D printers" is a research area in which we are exploring ways to make 3D printing more accessible, for example by researching alternative ways to 3d modeling such as the game Minecraft, or by designing appropriation infrastructures for supporting 3d printing communities.
I work as a post-doc researcher at the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology FIT.
I have been a visiting researcher at the Centre for Mobilities Research (CeMoRe) at the University of Lancaster in August/September 2014.
I have received my PhD in the field of Information Systems at the chair of Information Systems and New Media at the University of Siegen in 2012. My thesis focused on practices of coordination and learning in the context of global software development in small to medium-sized companies at the intersection between CSCW and Software Engineering. It was honored with the study award ("Studienpreis") of the district Siegen-Wittgenstein 2012.
I have studied Cultural Anthropology at the University of Bonn where I received my Magister Artium (M.A.) in 2005.
I have published in venues such as the European Conference on Computer Supported Cooperative Work (ECSCW) and the ACM SIGCHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI) as well as in Journals such as IEEE Software and Empirical Software Engineering.
I have worked as a chair member for conferences such as CHI (2013-2015), CSCW (2014-2015), ECSCW (2013, 2015), C&T (2015), IS-EUD (2015) and Interact (2011).
